Annie Higgins,
Clinician/Coach
Annie Higgins completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Connecticut College and her M.S. degree in Counseling Psychology at Northeastern University, and has over three years of experience in the field. Prior to working at Riser+Tread, Annie trained at Walden Behavioral Care in the residential program in Dedham, MA, working with young adults and individuals experiencing eating disorder behaviors and co-occurring disorders. Before entering the mental health field, Annie also worked in client-facing roles at Harvard Business Publishing and Wayfair. Additionally, as a former college athlete, Annie is passionate about sports and incorporates a coaching mentality in her therapeutic relationships to foster open communication, mutual respect, and trust.
Annie fully believes in the mind+body connection, taking a holistic approach to mental health and wellness. The modalities she uses are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Strengths-Based Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, as well as the structured coaching-based ADHD in 8 program at Riser+Tread. She believes everyone has the ability to take control of their lives by honing in on their strengths to build their self-esteem, confidence, and sense of identity. She also believes in goal setting with her clients, identifying obtainable objectives to work towards in collaboration with one another.
On a personal note, Annie loves spending her free time with her family and friends. On her days off, you can find her cooking a new recipe, going on a long walk along the Esplanade, trying out new workout classes in Boston, or finding the city's best coffee shop.
