Tom Moriarty, Coach

image-2_edited.jpg

Tom graduated from Hamilton College with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He pitched for Hamilton’s baseball team, acted in theater productions and worked in the admissions department.

Tom spent eight years teaching math at St. Sebastian’s, an independent Catholic school for young men grades 7 - 12. In addition to teaching courses ranging from Intro to Algebra to AP Calculus, he was faculty advisor to a cohort of students and coached football, wrestling and baseball.

Over the course of his education career, Tom became increasingly fascinated by the psychological, emotional, social, and developmental aspects of the human experience. He began independently reading on the subjects, proceeded to take summer courses while still teaching, and ultimately enrolled at Lesley University, where he is midway through a master’s degree in mental health counseling with a specialization in holistic studies.

Thus far, Tom has found himself drawn to modalities that incorporate mindfulness, humanistic principles and analytical psychology. Ultimately, he strives to continue evolving and developing the knowledge and skills to best serve his clients on their individual journeys.

Outside of work responsibilities and family, Tom enjoys the outdoors, bicycle touring, jiu jitsu, fantasy novels, puns, and playing chess at a decidedly mediocre level.
